The Thule Pulse Large cargo box is a economical way to carry outdoor equipment such as skis and snowboards, as well as large luggage or baby gear for 3 - 5 people on your roof rack crossbars. The long, spacious box provides enclosed storage for your gear on long road trips or when traveling to sporting events.
Mounting the Pulse Large is a tool-free operation thanks to the Easy-Grip hardware. Just throw the box on your roof, insert the Easy-Grip clamps into the rubber-lined mounting slots in the bottom of the box, center the clamps over your crossbars, and turn the knobs to tighten them down.
These hand knobs are mounted in tracks so that they can be repositioned for vehicles with shorter roofs. Simply slide the hand knobs to the desired position and give them a spin.
The Easy-Grip assemblies also include anchor points for securing your cargo. Just loop the included cargo straps through the anchor points and pull the straps tight to secure your gear.
The Pulse Large has a low profile and an aerodynamic shape that helps to reduce drag and wind noise when the box is mounted on your roof rack.
The Pulse Large features a single-side-opening lid so you can safely load your gear from the passenger's side of your vehicle. And a built-in strap makes it easy to lift and close the lid.
The cargo box has an oversize SecureLock on the passenger's side. This specially designed lock prevents you from removing the key if the box is not properly closed and locked. This eliminates the possibility of the box coming open as you travel down the road. And the lock includes a Thule One-Key-System core so you can swap it out to make all your Thule accessories keyed alike.
This cargo box is constructed of rugged ABS plastic that resists impact, weather, and harsh UV rays. And the matte black finish adds a touch of style when the box is mounted on your roof.

The Thule cargo box was in great condition and I received an email the next day from etrailer confirming if it was in fact delivered and in good condition. Which it was. What else can you ask for?! The Thule Pulse was everything we needed for our 2016 Highlander. Great experience traveling with it and no problems with leaking.
I would give this 5 stars, and the only thing that prevented that was the fact that it is not accessible from both sides for maximum convenience. However, I knew that it was only a one side accessible model going into the purchase and still bought it. It is light, user-friendly when putting it on and taking it off of my vehicle. I also think that this model, while it does produce drag and some noise, is fairly sleek and did not significantly effect my MPG nor was the produced external noise overly distracting. It's tough, durable, spacious, and exactly what I need to add additional volume for longer trips with 4-5 people. I would buy this item again 9 times out of 10.
I purchased this cargo carrier about a year ago. I’ve taken it on 5-6 road trips covering multiple states in all kinds of weather. This rack has remained stable and I really like that you cannot leave it open without the key, which works well to ensure I don’t lose it. However, I gave the carrier a 4 as the rubber seal has come off a few times at the far attachment site and I have had a small amount of water get inside the carrier while traveling.
About a year ago you purchased a Thule Pulse Roof Box 16 cubic ft, and I am extremely please that I can now take what I need when hunting and camping. Customer support was excellent in helping me figure out the Bars and box appropriate for my needs for my '17 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.
Fits like a glove on a 2010 CRV. Took minutes to install and on the road.
1 year later - this box is excellent! Mounted on a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Rhino Rack (PSP) aero bars also bought from etrailer but seemingly no longer available here (they're really good if you can find them elsewhere).
Box sturdy, not too noisy, and a breeze to mount and take off unlike some of the less expensive models. Holds a large amount of stuff and is long enough for our skis. Waterproof too - has been through torrential rains and snows.
TL;DR - solid buy, recommended!

Shipping: Delivery was prompt, with lots of notice given, and the carrier delivered on a pallet into our garage, which was really helpful.
The box itself is very functional. Opens and closes easily. The box must be locked to remove the key, so no accidentally driving off with it unlocked. It fits my skis (175 cm) in the ski bag. clamp mechanism is easy to use and auto-centers the cross bar so you know your clamp won't slip off the front/back of the cross bar. Would be nice for it to open up more, but there's plenty of space to get most suitcases, ski bags, etc. in. It would also be nice if it could open on either side. This only opens on the passenger side (US cars), but that's actually a helpful safety feature so if you're loading/unloading on the side of the ride, you're on the sidewalk rather than in traffic. More expensive models offered dual-side opening, but I'm too cheap. Durability seems quite good - we've used it on several trips so far. It hasn't been loud or seemed to greatly affect fuel efficiency of our car.

We love this rooftop carrier. It is roomy, lightweight, and very easy to mount onto the factory cross-bars of our 2012 Subaru Outback. We've driven it through rain and had no issues with water infiltration although I believe they have disclaimers that it is not waterproof.
It is large enough to fit our full size baby stroller (folded up of course) along with beach umbrellas, sleeping bags, etc.
Great Box! Lots of room,mostly duffle bags. Yet , it is good for having fishing poles, paddles and life jackets. It lets you get the nighttime cargo out of the way to keep the ice chests, food, and extra clothes and shoes easily accesible in thd back of our Mazda CX-5. We spent 4 weeks on the road to the beaches from Maine to North Carolina.
THe box was a little awkward for one person to handle and parallel up with the car from front to back. A helper is needed for that. Also, the screw on clamps get in the way of the bag movement for loading and unloading. The box interior secondary tie down straps should be a little wider with slip velcro slides to hook into the inside roof of the cargo carrier chook velcro for positioning the interior cargo hold down straps. A 2 step short folding ladder with a grab bar is useful for loading and unloading twice a day. THe cargo carrier did not leak water, even during driving rain. As expected , our gas mileage dropped about 10%-20% depending on our speed. Keeping the box parrallel is critical for wind noise and gas mileage. A soft firm taped on non slip cloth material around the clamps and the roof bars solved the problem of the box sliding latterally. Live a little, learn a little. Great box for 3 kids and 2 adults on a very long long trip. THe car is our daily drive vehicle at home and the box let us travel comfortably without having to get a van.

We've had the Thule Roof Rack & Cargo Box on our Honda CRV for over a year now and have traveled extensively in cold and hot climates (Arizona, Florida, Maine, etc.). The hardware installs and removes easily. We stay in the specs for weight, etc., and have not had a single issue. It gives us the extra space we need. Working with etrailer was easy and straight-forward. I had a question on the fit with our car, sent photos of the roof, etc. and was promptly guided to the right product. I'm pleased with the experience and product.
The Thule Pulse has worked well for us in our travels. Mounts easily and there is no noise or vibration. Instructions are easy to follow, light weight makes it easy to handle & Mount. Has adequate storage. Great product & well worth the money.

It has been over a year since our purchase of the Thule Pulse Large roof storage unit. Again it has been of great benefit for storage and management of needed space. light weight, easy to handle, easy to mount and no road noise. Great product.
This was purchased off of the etrailer.com website as a "damaged" item at a significantly reduced price. The description on the website described the damage very well and the cargo box has no functional issues of any kind. Also, the cargo box arrived much earlier than I anticipated. Furthermore, when I noticed that the box arrived with the load securing straps missing I emailed etrailer customer support and they had Thule send me two new ones right away. Couldn't be more pleased with etrailer and this cargo box. It fits my 2014 Honda CRV with factory crossbars with just a little bit of rear hatch interference (restricts opening by maybe an inch or two, but can still fully use the rear hatch). Can't speak to durability quite yet as I've only used the cargo box a few times to transport skis and snowboard and plan to use it year-round for road trips. A really great, simple cargo box!

1 Year Update - the cargo box is still working perfectly for what I wanted it for. It has never leaked even in downpour rain and feels secure on the roof when driving on interstates at high speed. Really a great purchase!

Excellent car top carrier (not that I've had many to compare it to). Easy to install and remove, sturdy, and fits well on our Toyota Siena. Opening it is a little tricky, as sometimes the top sticks to the bottom a bit. Adds a lot of extra storage to our car, great for when we go camping. Great experience with etrailer.
Excellent customer service and shipping. Cargo box arrived when they said it would and delivery driver went out of his way to ensure we were satisfied. I honestly couldn't be happier. Thule pulse large size is perfect for our family of five, and the duffel bags are also great.
The box is easy to open and close. You can fit a lot of luggage inside. The lock keeps my cargo secure. My belongings are kept completely dry from the rain. The box is not loud, even at highway speeds. Attaching the box to my cross rails is a cinch. It is aerodynamic so I’ve only lost about 1 mpg. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because I wish the box was slightly deeper to allow for my hard travel case for golf clubs.
Purchased for our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and after multiple uses we have no regrets. The price was good; the Thule Cargo box is surprisingly light, I was able to lift it over my head onto our Jeep fairly easy. The box does only open on one side and given the height of our Jeep, that was an issue when we mounted the box center line on the Jeep. We've since started mounting the cargo box on the right side, so using a step I can easily reach any cargo inside. The two straps for securing cargo are useless and we ditched them for Bihlwerflex bungee straps. Much easier to install and use. The clamps that secure the cargo box to the rails are great, makes the mount/secure process a breeze. I do a walk around and check everything whenever we stop and the clamps have always been secure.
This was a much needed addition for a drive back to Tucson, AZ from a three month stay in Portland. ME, as we had acquired some extra things and needed more space than our 2015 Honda CRV provided.
This fit on top of the rhino vortex aero roof rack I also purchased from e-trailer perfectly. The cargo box functioned as expected, and although we ultimately could have used a slightly larger cargo box, this one worked great for giving us extra space in our car for the drive home. It was easy to mount and opened easily, although it was a bit tricky to load, a step ladder would have helped. It was tough to close, we had to move some stuff around to get it to latch, but I appreciated that it would not lock unless the latches could fully engage, which made me feel like it was going to remain closed while traveling. We wasted no time putting stickers on it, and added more along the drive home, which was fun.
We traveled through many different types of weather, it was late spring and was rainy in the beginning of our trip, and very hot towards the end of our trip, and the contents were in perfect condition when we arrived home. There was zero water damage inside, and nothing was damaged from being in the heat. Of course there was some reduced gas mileage and added road noise when traveling, but nothing too unbearable.
Also, service and shipping from etrailer was excellent.
The 16 cu ft cargo box fits perfectly on the 2018 Toyota Rav4. Literally takes about 5 minutes, 10min at the most, to set up on the rooftop, and was able to do it without the help of a second person. The box itself weighs very little.

Thule rooftop box is great a year later. Super simple but also very secure. Travel with my daughter and dog would not be possible without it.
Excellent roomy cargo box. My wife’s luggage even fit (see photo). Fit the top of my Forester like it was meant to be there and the hatch opens without obstruction. Great shipping by etrailer.com via Estes freight shipping (almost overkill on shipping).

Great product. This and the Thule racks made it through a few storms while traveling from California to Oaxaca Mexico. Very durable and stayed put during our 6 month voyage. Will be heading back again soon for more adventures.
We were looking for a cargo box to fit our 2021 Mazda CX-5. Finally decided on the Thule Pulse L based on other reviews and pictures. We have the box mounted on OEM cross bars. The box is a perfect fit - clears the fin and doesn’t interfere with the hatch. It was so easy to install too. I am pretty sure this is the largest box that we can use on this vehicle. The width just about takes up the entire space. We haven’t taken it on its maiden voyage yet but so far the fit is great.

One year later and we have used this roof box on numerous trips. It is easy to put on and take off, and keeps everything secure and dry. You do have to be mindful when loading that there is room for the hinges to fold back down so that the box will latch and then lock. The lock is a little fussy but it works. So glad we bought this one!
